Start with these6
All 18 COP BASTARD achievements
All 18, what they ask for, and the completion rate for each.
Open ▶The three guns, and when to hold each
Beretta, shotgun, magnum: what each wins, and the swap that cancels a reload.
Open ▶The charge meter: spit or slow motion
Kills fill the bar; heal by spitting on a body, or spend it on slow motion.
Open ▶Scoring, and the Extreme Prejudice rule
Shooting corpses pays: the rule, the order, what it unlocks.
Open ▶Your first hour in COP BASTARD
No regen, no upgrades, three guns: the habits that keep hour one alive.
Open ▶The four Osaka locations
Four shapes of corridor: club, streets, flats, warehouse.
Open ▶COP BASTARD is a classic first-person shooter from targim. and Retrovibe, set in early-1990s Japan, played as a detective who would rather shoot first and file the paperwork never. It launched on 29 October 2026 for Windows on Steam, with a same-day GOG release. Everything here is written against that build.
The pitch is deliberately narrow. No upgrades, no perks, no puzzles: corridors, enemies, three guns and a score counter that rewards the exact behaviour a real cop would be fired for. The whole look runs through a VHS filter, so club floors, back alleys, apartment blocks and warehouses all arrive with tape grain on them.
What you actually do in the first hour
You walk forward, shoot yakuza before they shoot you, and manage one resource: the charge meter. Kills fill it; you spend it either spitting at a downed gangster to heal, or on slow motion to clear a room. That is the entire economy.
If you want the short version before you buy, read the beginner guide. If you already own the game and bounced off the first firefight, the charge meter page explains why you keep dying with a full bar.
Before you start: six things worth knowing
| Question | Short answer | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Is there a tutorial? | Yes, and it ends with an achievement | Achievements |
| Can I turn off head bobbing? | Yes, it is a menu option | Controls and settings |
| How many weapons? | Three: Beretta, double-barrel shotgun, magnum | Weapons |
| Does difficulty change enemies? | Hard is a separate achievement track | Difficulty |
| Is there an endless mode? | Yes, with weapon upgrades | Endless mode |
| Is my PC strong enough? | Official minimum is very low | System requirements |
Straight answers
How long is it? Corridor-driven and short by design; the achievement list is built around repeat runs, no-damage clears and weapon kill counts rather than a long campaign.
Does it have multiplayer? No. Steam lists single-player only, with Cloud, leaderboards and full controller support.
Is it scary or gory? Steam's content note says blood, gore and strong language. It is a 1990s action-film pastiche, not a horror game.
Which version is this site about? The 29 October 2026 launch build, checked on 31 October 2026. Where a fact only applies to the demo, the page says so.
Where to read next
